Services
NorthLand Agency on Aging provides services to older people and their caregivers to help them remain independent. We try to forestall the need for institutional care for as long as possible by providing important services, including:Advocacy
Area Agencies on Aging are required by law to review and comment on
public policies affecting older persons at the federal, state and local
level. To that end, we host periodic public forums on issues pertinent
to aging advocates, and formally comment on laws and rules which will
impact the aging population.
Advocacy also means that we are there for older people who need an
advocate in their daily lives, whether it be for questions concerning
public benefits, abusive or exploitative situations, or living
conditions. Our Advocacy Specialists are available to visit older
persons in their own homes to offer assistance. To contact us, click

Caregiver Support
Caregiving can be rewarding and satisfying; it is a gift you are giving
to the spouse, parent, neighbor or friend you care for.
Caregiving can be physically, emotionally and financially challenging.
It can be a balancing act if you're employed, have other
responsibilities, or have health problems of your own.
If you're a caregiver, you're not alone; over seven million people in
the United States are caregivers. They all have unique needs and
problems associated with their caregiving.
NorthLand
Agency on Aging has the knowledge and experience to link caregivers to
the help they need. Simply contact us for personal attention to

Case Management
The Case Management Program identifies needed services, arranges for
and monitors their delivery for frail elderly individuals in their own
homes.
Frail elders enjoy several advantages when enrolled in Case Management:
- The individual and family will have informed choices about
services in the community.
- When agencies work together, the client receives help
without overlap or gaps.
- The individual has only one person to contact, the Case Manager,
instead of several agencies or organizations.
- Individual needs can be addressed before emergencies arise.
- Each care plan is individualized to the person's unique needs to help prevent premature nursing home placement.

Nutrition Services
Food is one of the very basic essentials of life. Over the
course of many years, science has discovered that what you eat is even
more important than how much you eat.
Our Nutrition Services, Congregate Meals and Home Delivered Meals,
address that important fact. We offer a hot, delicious noon meal
in twenty-five of our communities in Northeast Iowa. In
twenty-four of those communities, participants can sit down with their
friends and neighbors to eat, chat, and even play cards. In all
twenty-five communities, homebound elders can meet their nutritional
needs by ordering our Home Delivered Meals.
